FABRIC COMPOSITION :
50 % Ramie and 50 % Linen
FABRIC ORIGIN :
Our Ramie Linen is locally sourced in Cape Town, South Africa . Ramie is made from the stalks of the plant called Chinese Nettle (Boehmeria nivea). Linen is similar, but it is made from the stalks of the flax plant. The spun threads have an inherent stiffness, like linen, and so can be woven into a lightweight open-weave pattern that is very cool and refreshing in humid climates.
Ramie is one of the oldest textile fibers. It was used in mummy cloths in Egypt during the period 5000 - 3000 BC, and has been grown in China for many centuries. The main producers of ramie today are China, Brazil, Philippines, India, South Korea and Thailand.
ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS :
This item is 100% Biodegradable
CARE INSTRUCTIONS :
Ramie and linen should be hand washed or gentle machine washed in cold or warm water to prevent shrinking or stretching. Please turn garment inside out before washing to prevent surface fibers from breaking. Garment performs best when line dried or tumble-dried on low temperatures. Ramie clothes are best ironed when slightly damp. Extremely high temperatures when ironing can scorch the fibers.

Choose a gentle detergent for washing natural fibres on a regular basis. We recommend using cold water to prevent shrinkage and reduce the risk of dyes fading. Natural fibres can be washed on a gentle or regular cycle setting on your washing machine. Natural Fibres can be washed by hand for finer, more delicate fabrics or blends. Items can be soaked for 10-15 minutes to loosen dirt and stains. For stubborn stains, gently rub the fabric together or use a soft brush.
